The Trustees

1. The Corporation

The AIT Corporation is composed of active and ex-officio members who ensure that the Institute adheres to the purpose for which it was established. This means that the integrity and financial resources of AIT are preserved for future generations. For this reason, AIT is governed by the “Corporation Bylaws” passed by the Trustees with the President also the Trustee Secretary.

The AIT Corporation is the governing authority of the Institute with a board of trustees responsible for its Bylaws as well as for the appointment and dismissal of the heads of the Institute’s administration.

The Corporation and its Committees are responsible for reviewing and providing guidance, approving the annual budget and exercising long-term fiducial responsibility. Besides being responsible for approving new degrees and courses, the two are also advisers to the President on critical issues.

2. Faculty

The faculty is responsible for the Institute-wide faculty governance that promotes the philosophy of academic excellence, and intellectual culture, and for approving admissions.

2(a) Faculty Selection

This Committee, which is responsible for both the rigorous profiling and selection of new faculty members is headed by the President.

Besides giving their final approval, Trustee Members are also responsible for approving tenure positions for qualified faculty members.

3. Institute Administration

2(a) Faculty Selection

The President of AIT is the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute. As the Institute CEO, the President is also the Institute’s chief spokesman, chief academic officer, and chief fund-raiser. He serves as an Ex-officio member of the Corporation, where he is the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Corporation Trustee. He is also a member of the Development Committee and the Membership Committee.

(b) Provost

The Provost is the Chief Academic Officer responsible for the academic planning and research mission of the Institute. The Provost is also in charge of the deans and the faculty affairs. The Registrar and the Five School Deans assist the Provost in performing these academic roles.

(c) Executive Vice President

As AIT’s Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, the EVP leads all administrative and financial duties at AIT. These are in addition to leading financial strategy development, including budgeting and planning.

(d) Advisory Council

Institute Advisory Council is a non-statutory body comprising eminent personalities from business, industry, and academia with the role of reviewing and making suggestions on long-term policies and short-term goals.
